Mulder Catches Scully With The Smoking Man

Scene: Mulder's apartment.

Time: Late at night.

Characters: Fox Mulder, Dana Scully, the Smoking Man.

Dialogue:

Mulder: (walks in) Scully?

Scully: (sitting on the couch, smoking a cigarette, the Smoking Man sitting next to her) Mulder, what are you doing here?

Mulder: I was working late, and I thought I'd stop by to see you.

Scully: Well, you're in luck. I was just about to leave.

Mulder: Oh. Okay.

Scully: (stands up, starts to walk towards the door) I'll see you tomorrow.

Mulder: (looks at the Smoking Man) Who's your friend?

Scully: This is Mark. We met at a conference.

Mulder: (looks at Mark suspiciously) Mark, huh?

Mark: It's a pleasure to meet you, Mulder.

Mulder: (nods) Likewise.

Scully: Well, I should really be going.

Mulder: Okay.

Scully: (leaves)

Mulder: (turns to Mark) So, what do you do, Mark?

Mark: I'm a businessman.

Mulder: (nods) I see.

Mark: And what do you do, Mulder?

Mulder: I'm an FBI agent.

Mark: Really? That's interesting.

Mulder: (nods) It's a living.

Mark: Well, it was nice meeting you, Mulder.

Mulder: (nods) Likewise.

Mark: I'll see you around.

Mark: (gets up and leaves)

Mulder: (watches Mark leave, then turns to the door) Scully?

Scully: (opens the door) Yes?

Mulder: (looks at her suspiciously) What was that all about?

Scully: What do you mean?

Mulder: I mean, who was that guy?

Scully: He's just a friend.

Mulder: A friend?

Scully: Yes, a friend.

Mulder: (still suspicious) I don't know, Scully. It didn't look like just a friendly visit.

Scully: Mulder, there's nothing going on.

Mulder: (still not convinced) I'll believe that when I see it.

Scully: (sighs) Fine.

Scully: (closes the door)

Mulder: (watches her close the door, then turns and walks away)
